Some pictures are worth a thousand words. This one may be worth two thousand. Maybe more. But here are four words, for context: This man fells trees.
In this case, the tree in question was an 80-foot hickory on our property. The tree was home to squirrels, birds, insects. But as much as it supported local wildlife, this old hickory tree was not only rotted, but hollow. So the rise of this man signaled the fall of a tree that stood for nearly a century--years before our home was built.
As heavy as this decision made our hearts, the tree was far, far heavier.
